Finished in a wonderful authentic colour scheme representative of the Thunderbolts of the 78th Fighter Group based at Duxford (station 357) England from April 1943 during World War Two. In particular, the aircraft flown by Lt Colonel Ben Mayo of the 82nd squadron.
The Thunderbolt comes with a pre painted checkerboard fibreglass cowling, fuselage belly pan, canopy, molded dummy radial engine, black and white “invasion” stripes on the wings and fuselage, a complete set of accurate squadron markings, MX-X and a set of “No Guts No Glory” decals. New improved retracts with adjustable down locks come pre-installed. A complete hardware package including engine mounts, pre-plumbed fuel tank, die cut plywood servo trays, control horns and a comprehensive photo illustrated assembly guide that makes construction easy, and few evenings work should have the P47 “combat ready”
This is a great looking warbird, and due to its size and carefully selected wing section (which minimises the risk of tip stalling) the P47 is guaranteed to be a fantastic flyer. To compliment the great flight characteristics, the wide set undercarriage and steerable tail wheel give faultless ground handling.
By using carefully selected balsa and laser cut plywood partsthe Thunderbolt will prove to be a tough, lightweight model capable of a broad range of scale manoeuvres and a full range of sport and scale aerobatics.
With a fantastic UltraCote® finish this is a “must have” model, and with it’s huge cowling the Thunderbolt will take a wide range of engines, the Evolution 60 or 1.00 2 strokes are the ideal choice!
The full size Thunderbolt had a reputation of being a tough, reliable aircraft capable of getting the job done, this model will earn the same reputation!
