Boats for Beginners
Model boating offers a huge variety of watercraft, from the standard speedboat design or racing catamarans to the more sedate yachts and cruisers, or if you really want to own the lake why not go all in with a Frigate or Destroyer?
But where do you start? What do you need? How much will it cost? Where can you use it?
Don't worry, we're here to help!
For anybody starting out, we'd always recommend an electric RTR model. They're easier to maintain, simpler to use, won't upset the neighbours and there's no need to hunt out extra items before you can use it.
With an RTR (Ready to Run) model, you'll find the model is ready built and everything is in the box. (If it's not, we'll let you know)
Alternatively, if you want the fun of building the model yourself, take a look at a self-build kit, just don't forget you'll need to add extras to make it work. These will be listed on the item page as required accessories.
Here are our recommendations for the first timer, something RTR and something to build yourself.
