Fuel Cars
Frequently asked questions
Do nitro cars include everything?
Most nitro cars come in "RTR" (Ready To Run) form these days, Which will generally include the pre-built model, With radio gear and engine (usually) pre-installed. But will not include batteries to power the radio gear, Suitable Nitro Fuel and starting equipment.
Models that come in kit form will generally just include an un-built chassis that, When built will also require a suitable engine, fuel, radio gear etc to complete.
We can supply everything needed to get your model up and running though whichever you choose. If you are unsure of what you need you are welcome to call or email us and we'll be happy to advise.
What's better? Nitro or Electric power?
Well, There is no correct answer to this question as it comes down to personal preference really.
In terms of performance, Modern Brushless Motor technology and Li-Po (Lithium Polymer) batteries mean that a lot of electric cars these days are just as fast, if not faster than their nitro powered equivalents. Both in acceleration and top speed!
One thing that has limited the usability of electric models in the past are short run times and long charge times. However with modern chargers and high capacity batteries you can easily achieve over 30 minute run times on a single charge and re-charge in under an hour, So the days of 5 minute run times and over night charging are long gone!
On the other hand, If you have the patience and knowledge to run and maintain a Nitro model it can be brilliant fun without the need for any recharging (other than radio gear and glow starter batteries).
So to sum it up, Our opinion these days is that electric is most certainly the way to go. However under the right conditions Nitro power definitely still has it's place!
