Founded in 1932 by Ole Kirk Kristiansen, and based on the iconic LEGO brick, it is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of play materials. The name ‘LEGO’ is an abbreviation of the two Danish words “leg godt”, meaning “play well”.
The LEGO Group was founded in 1932 by Ole Kirk Kristiansen and has remained in the family ever since! Passing down from father to son it is now owned by Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, a grandchild of the founder.
